If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a proper drink in the Peak District, we’d like to think we’ve got things covered.
Whether that’s a well-made classic cocktail, something light and spritzy, a locally distilled gin served exactly as it should be, or an alcohol-free option that’s genuinely worth ordering.

Here’s what to expect:
Classic cocktails
We keep the classics list straightforward, because the classics are classic for a reason. Espresso Martini, Passionfruit Martini, French Martini, Cosmopolitan, Margarita, French 75, Old Fashioned, Negroni, Bloody Mary, Pimm’s and Sours in both whisky and amaretto. All £12, all made properly.
Spritzes
Our spritz selection is where the menu gets a bit more creative. Alongside Aperol, Campari and Limoncello, you’ll find a Watermelon and Basil Spritz, a Hedgerow Spritz and a Yorkshire Rhubacello Spritz, which feels particularly at home up here in the hills. The Hugo and Paloma come in at £13 and are well worth trying.
Local Spirit Pairings
This is the section we’re perhaps most proud of. We’ve partnered with some brilliant local distilleries to offer a selection of Peak District spirits. White Peak in Ambergate, Shivering Mountain in Hathersage and Peak Ales at Chatsworth, each one paired with the perfect Franklin & Sons mixer and served as a 50ml measure.
From White Peak Distillery, we pair the Shining Cliff Floral Gin with natural light tonic and fresh mint. The Shining Cliff Citrus Gin is paired with Sicilian tonic and a wedge of grapefruit) Also from White Peak, the Wire Works Caduro Whisky is paired simply and brilliantly with Franklin & Sons ginger ale.
If you want to go deeper into the White Peak whisky story, the Wire Works Whisky Tasting Mat (£18.95) takes you through three expressions. Try a 25ml serving of the Caduro, Bourbon Barrel and Port Cask, with a bit of history and heritage along the way. It’s a great shout if you’re curious about what’s being distilled close to our doorstep.
Alcohol-Free Options
The alcohol-free side of the menu gets the same attention as everything else.
Our mocktails, Zero Proof Sour, Ginger Switchel, Garden Collins and Virgin Mary are proper, considered drinks at £9 each.
We also stock the full Everleaf range of non-alcoholic aperitifs (£9) and they’re worth a special mention. Each one is botanically complex and genuinely interesting to drink:
- Forest: Saffron, vanilla and orange blossom, served with Franklin & Sons Natural Light tonic and orange
- Marine: Bergamot, kelp and sea buckthorn, served with soda and fresh rosemary
- Mountain: Strawberry, cherry blossom and rosehip, served with Franklin & Sons Mallorcan tonic and fresh berries
If you’ve not tried Everleaf before, ask your server which one sounds right for you. They’re hard to stop at one.

The Terrace
On a good day, the terrace at Owler Bar is a genuinely lovely place to be. Open skies, Peak District views and a drink in hand, it’s a combination that’s hard to argue with.
