Local premium produce, always
At The Peacock at Owler Bar, we’re committed to supporting local farmers, growers, butchers and artisan producers in the exceptional food we serve. Expect classic pub favourites like Derbyshire pies, local ale battered fish and chips and succulent burgers alongside great gastro pub fayre inspired by international flavours.
This also extends to our children’s menu too, because we know that feeding your children the best, freshest ingredients is important to you too. Everything is made from scratch using whole foods sourced locally.
Sneaking the veggies in with our starters
We’ve designed our children’s menu to work in line with how you’d dine too. Our kids eat free promotion covers the cost of a main course, but you might want the kids to try a little extra with our healthy starters and delicious desserts.
For our starters, there’s homemade hummus and vegetable sticks, seasonal soup usually packed with locally grown veg (a sneaky way to hide a quota of the all-important 5 a day!) and the Brazilian cheese bread with tomato salsa is always a hit.
Mains made with love (from scratch!)
Our cheeseburger main is made using beef sourced from our friends The Ginger Butchers in Bakewell, who also supply the chicken for our chicken pasta dish. The fish in our fish and chips is hand-selected by the team at RG Morris Fishmongers in Buxton who work with those fishing sustainably in British waters. For those following a plant-based diet, the mixed bean and courgette burger is always a hit!
Room for pudding?
Can you tell our chefs have a sweet tooth? Our desserts are something special at The Peacock at Owler Bar, and our kitchen team pour a lot of culinary love and creativity into our ‘afters’ (as the kids would say). Just because this is a children’s menu, doesn’t mean they can expect the bog standard vanilla or chocolate scoop of ice cream. Oh no! Firstly, we’re a two-scoop kind of place and we’ve got chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel or vegan vanilla ice cream. Or why not choose two scoops of the refreshing raspberry sorbet or orange sorbet?
If it’s vegan desserts you’re after, the dark chocolate mousse, with vegan honeycomb, and dark cherry compote is delicious.
For a more traditional British dessert, the homemade Bakewell almond tart served with crème anglaise and raspberry ice cream is a wonderful choice. For something inspired by international flavours, the exotic fruit semifreddo is the favourite dessert of our Group Executive Chef, Adrian Gagea, who trained under Raymond Blanc. The semifreddo is served with berry coulis and almond praline.
