There’s no better time to visit The Peacock at Owler Bar.
Our new summer menu has landed, the terrace is open and the views across the Peak District are looking about as good as they ever do. Whether you’re a regular or you’ve been meaning to visit for a while, this is a great excuse to finally book that table.
Here’s a look at what’s new, what we love and what you should order.
New small plates worth starting with
Small plates at Owler Bar have always been a good way to go.
Joining the menu this summer are three new additions we’re particularly excited about.

The citrus-cured salmon is a real standout. Served with pickled cucumber ribbons, dill emulsion and toasted sourdough, it’s the kind of dish that looks beautiful on the plate and tastes even better.

If you’re after something a little more punchy, the wasabi duck bonbons with sweet potato purée and grilled tender stem broccoli are a crowd-pleaser. The heat of the wasabi is subtle, the duck is rich and the purée brings it all together nicely.

For something a bit different, the sweet and sour glazed battered prawns with mixed leaf salad deliver exactly what you’d hope. Crispy, flavourful and a solid choice if you want something lighter to start.
New large plates for the main event
The large plates menu has had a refresh this summer, with several new dishes sitting alongside existing favourites like our Longbow signature burger, Derbyshire pie of the week and our stir-fried noodles.

Pan-fried sea bass with grapefruit beurre blanc, roasted new potatoes and grilled broccoli is one for anyone who appreciates well-executed fish cookery. The beurre blanc is rich and citrusy, and it pairs beautifully with the sea bass without overpowering it.

The seafood linguine in a tomato sauce, topped with herb oil is the kind of plate where the quality of the ingredients does the talking. A well-made tomato sauce and good seafood don’t need much else, and this one delivers.

And if you’re in the mood for something properly hearty, the BBQ pork ribs with coleslaw, grilled corn and skinny fries are exactly what they sound like. A big, satisfying plate of food that earns its place on any summer menu.

We’re open from 11am until 10:30 for food and drinks seven days a week.
